If you are arriving from an Amber listed country and you have been fully vaccinated under the UK NHS vaccine programme you do not need to quarantine and only test on Day 2.

From Monday 2nd August 2021, if you are arriving from an Amber listed country and you have been fully vaccinated in the EU under the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or in the USA with vaccines authorised by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), or in the Swiss vaccination programme, you do not need to quarantine and only test on Day 2.

If you are not fully vaccinated or vaccinated outside of the UK (and the EU and USA after 2nd August 2021) you are required to quarantine for 10 days after your entry to the UK and test on both Day 2 and Day 8. You have an option to take an additional Day 5 Test to Release, which if negative will allow you to end your quarantine earlier than the 10 days.

For exact details of requirements, please refer to the UK Government’s COVID-19 Guidelines

PCR tests are used to see if you currently have COVID-19. CHB Medical use gold standard PCR tests including our Day 2 and Day 8 PCR tests.

If a positive result is returned, then you must isolate to help keep others safe and stop transmission.

The PCR test is designated to detect the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that causes COVID-19. The test is currently used in the UK in hospitals and the community to see if someone is infected with coronavirus.

The test uses a lab technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect minute amounts of genetic material (RNA) from the coronavirus in a swab taken from your nose or throat.

You will perform your samples using a gentle and non-invasive swab. We will provide you with clear instructions on how to take your swab in your test kits.

PCR tests are the gold standard for detection of SARS-CoV-2. The accuracy of a PCR test is measured
by two factors: Sensitivity and Specificity.

Sensitivity measures how often a positive result is detected for people who have the virus.

Specificity measures the test’s ability to generate a negative result for people who do not have COVID-19

For example, a test with 90% specificity will provide a negative test result to 90% of people who did not have the virus. The sensitivity of a test can be affected by several factors such as the assay used by the laboratory, the limit of detection used, the viral load within the sample, and the sample collection technique.

RT-PCR test assays are widely considered to have both a specificity and sensitivity greater than
95%

There are 4 outcomes of your test:

Positive – You are infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Please immediately follow Government Guidelines to isolate along with your household.

Negative – You are not infected with the virus. Please continue to take sensible precautions.

Inconclusive – Typically a borderline positive/negative result. You require retesting.

Invalid – Occurs in 1-3% of samples. Typically (but not exclusively) this arises when insufficient human material is present on the swab sample.

All outcomes are subject to laboratory fees and are non-refundable.

If your Day 2 test result is positive, you do not need to take the Day 8 test, but you must quarantine until day 13. If your Day 8 test result is positive, you must quarantine until day 19.

You must isolate in the same place for the full isolation period and are not permitted to change locations.

Permitted quarantine locations include your own home, a friend or family home. A hotel, or temporary accommodation other than a managed quarantine hotel. You must provide the correct quarantine location on your Passenger Locator Form

You have an option to take an additional Day 5 Test to Release, which if negative will allow you to end your quarantine earlier than the 10 days.

Also, please check your destination country for their rules and regulations, as the Fit to Fly Certificate and test may have different specification requirement in your destination country.

More general information, in regards to COVID-19 travel requirements, please refer to the UK Government website.

Make sure to order and receive the kit beforehand and perform the sample collection to procedure only within 72 hours of your flight time. If the sample is collected in the tube before 72 hours of your flight time the certificate will become INVALID even if your result is negative.

You may not be allowed to board your flight if you cannot show proof of a negative COVID-19 test result taken within three days of your departure back to the UK.

If you arrive without proof of a negative result, you can be fined. Read the government guidance for more details.

Yes, you must take a COVID-19 test and show proof of a negative result before returning to England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Read the government guidance for more details.

Your Fit to Fly result will be emailed within 24 hours of the sample being received by the UKAS Accredited Laboratory

Antibody Testing FAQs

Concerns and opinions over the sensitivity of antibody tests are widely debated throughout the medical and scientific industry. Whilst it is mandatory for all suppliers of diagnostic testing kits to internally validate their test results, external validation can provide independent assurance for key stakeholders.

Our 10 Minute Antibody Test Kit which is known as Healgen COVID -19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette. Healgen is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zhejiang Orient Gene. The test has been externally validated by six independent institutions and used in three population studies, (one being the Imperial College London who have undertaken the largest antibody population study in the world), using the Orient Gene 10 Minute Antibody Kit.

Independent Institutions such as WHO (via Erasmus Centre) and the NCI The Frederick National Laboratory, US who independently test for the US FDA, have all validated our chosen 10 Minute Antibody Test Kit.

At CHB Medical we can arrange workplace testing teams around the UK. For more information please contact us.

Our solution can be made completely bespoke to your needs from supplying a nurse, branded documentation for your staff, or simply just the test kits if you already have access to a healthcare professional to administer the test. Alternatively, we can test you and your employees at your premises or at 55 clinics across the UK.
